Universal Records Celebrates Their 37th Awit Awards Winners!

Universal Records was a big winner at the 37th Awit Awards, bringing home four important awards. A prestigious event that recognizes the best in the local music industry, this year’s Awit Awards – held at the Music Museum in Greenhills last December 4 – gathered the country’s most exciting music acts and respected music executives, including those from Universal Records.

The Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino award was proudly presented to the legendary band Parokya ni Edgar, honoring their steadfast dedication to celebrating and preserving the heart and soul of Philippine music. Members, Gab Cheekee, Dindin Moreno, Vinci Valenton, Buwi Meneses and Darius Semaña were present to receive the award.

Shanti Dope, another Universal Records artist, took home the Best Rap/Hip Hop Recording award for his groundbreaking track “Bad Type,” highlighting the increasing recognition of diverse genres in the Philippine music scene. Since Shanti Dope could not make it to the event, Universal Records Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go accepted the award on his behalf, saying, “I would like to thank all of the fans and supporters who shared this whole journey with him. Thank you so much Awit and PARI. Thank you so much!”

The night also shone a light on incredible collaborations, with Gloc-9 and Gary Valenciano winning the Best Collaboration award for their song “Walang Pumapalakpak.”

A truly memorable moment of the evening was the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Universal Records Executive Vice-President Ramon Chuaying. A board member and director of the Philippine Association of Record Industry, his decades-long career has made a significant impact on the music industry, and his unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and promoting Filipino music has inspired countless artists along the way. With all this recognition, Universal Records is truly ending the year on a high note.
