Netflix has announced that The Night Agent has been renewed for a second season after the success of its first season. With 168.71 million hours seen since its premiere on March 23rd, the spy thriller has risen to the top of the English television ratings.

The Night Agent, based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, is “a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low-level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.”

Shawn Ryan, the creator and showrunner of The Night Agent, released the following statement: “The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world. It’s been incredibly rewarding to witness the show’s positive reception from viewers, and it’s a testament to the hard work of everyone involved, from the cast and crew to Sony Pictures Television and Netflix.
