Greyson Chance Launches New EP with Some Christmas Lights at TriNoma
Greyson Chance must really love Manila. For the third time in the span of a year, he visited to Philippines to play two shows at two prominent Ayala Malls – Market! Market! and Trinoma – for the promotion of his newly released EP titled “Truth Be Told Part 1”. Last April, the 15-year old American singer-songwriter/pianist held a major concert in the Big Dome. Seven months after, he came back not only to give his fans a taste of his new compositions, but also to officially open TriNoma’s Merry Musical Lights, the mall’s Christmas show that uses the choreography of thousands of lights in tune with music.
The TriNoma Activity Center was packed with teenage fans way before the concert started. For hours, they lined up to get their hands on the limited EP bundle that would be their ticket to the concert. The fans filled not only the Activity Center, but also every area in every floor where they can get a decent look at their much awaited idol.
Greyson Chance, young as he is, was not one to disappoint the overenthusiastic crowd. When he appeared, he waved and addressed his fans with warmth and apparent sincerity. The audience, on the other hand, gave their most deafening screams as they immediately and frantically cheered for him. Greyson started the show by performing the hit song “Waiting Outside the Lines”. He also performed most of the songs from the new EP: “Leila”, “You Might be the One” and “Take My Heart”. For the closing, he played “Sunshine and City Lights”, the song which was specially choreographed to the first Merry Musical Lights show of the year. As the song was played, a video of the wonderfully arranged dance of lights was projected onscreen. As a bonus, a beautiful burst of gold confetti flew across the mall after the concert.
Greyson, who is much familiar with the Filipino crowd, appeared to be very comfortable onstage. He remarked that he appreciates the Filipino tradition of celebrating Christmas early, as it something he doesn’t get to do back home. He even thanked Ayala Malls for giving him the privilege of opening the event. At the middle of the show, three selected fans even got to ask him questions. For someone so young, he handled the questions well by showing his sense of humor while maintaining his humility.
The event was successful as successful goes. Special thanks to Ayala Malls and MCA Music for a wonderful show.
