Last Dinosaurs to Make their Long-Awaited Return to Manila in December

Get ready for an unforgettable night of indie-rock bliss with Last Dinosaurs!

PULP Live World is thrilled to announce that Last Dinosaurs, the beloved Australian indie-rock band, will be making their much-awaited return to Manila for their LAST DINOSAURS LIVE IN MANILA concert on December 8, 2024, at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA. This performance is set to be a dream come true for fans who have been eagerly requesting their return to the Philippines.

Last Dinosaurs

The Brisbane-based band, formed in 2007, is composed of Sean Caskey (Lead/Backup Vocals, Rhythm/Lead Guitar), Lachlan Caskey (Lead/Backup Vocals, Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Danjuro Koyama (Drums), and Michael Sloane (Bass). Their story began when Sean and Dan met in high school and bonded over their shared love for music. Over the years, Last Dinosaurs has grown into one of the most distinctive and dynamic indie bands in the scene, captivating audiences worldwide with their catchy hooks, intricate guitar work, and infectious energy.

Last Dinosaurs first made waves in the music scene with the release of their debut EP, Back from the Dead in 2010. Their blend of indie-rock with electronic and dance influences garnered the attention of Australian media, with outlets like Triple J offering praise for their unique sound. It wasn’t long before the band found themselves on the radar of major music festivals and embarking on tours that took them beyond Australia’s shores. Their debut studio album, In a Million Years (2012), solidified their position in the indie music landscape, with tracks like “Zoom” and “Honolulu” becoming instant fan favorites. The success of their debut allowed them to expand their fanbase, receiving critical acclaim not only from Australia but also from international audiences. In 2015, the band continued their musical journey with their second album, Wellness, which featured standout singles such as “Evie” and “Apollo.” These tracks became anthems for indie lovers, and the album further showcased their ability to craft songs that blend introspective lyrics with danceable melodies. Their evolution continued with the release of their third album, Yumeno Garden (2018). This album marked a period of experimentation for the band, introducing new sonic elements while retaining the signature Last Dinosaurs vibe that their fans had come to love. Singles like “Dominos” and “Eleven” demonstrated their range as they continued to explore new thematic and musical territories.

Fast forward to 2023-2024, and Last Dinosaurs has reached new heights with their latest ambitious project: KYORYU. This 13-song concept album is unlike anything the band has done before, taking listeners on a sonic journey through a futuristic universe. The album explores existential themes and presents an immersive narrative experience, blending experimental soundscapes with the band’s signature indie-rock style. The album was introduced through two transmission-style videos on YouTube, offering fans a glimpse into the interconnected stories of RYU and KYO, two EPs that serve as the foundation of the KYORYU project. Each EP is accompanied by manga stories that flesh out the characters and storyline further. RYU and KYO are short for the middle names of Sean and Lachlan—Ryusuke and Kyohei—which adds a personal and cultural layer to the project. Interestingly, “KYORYU” translates to “dinosaur” in Japanese, a fitting title for a band that continues to evolve while paying homage to their roots.

The KYORYU project not only pushes the boundaries of indie-rock music but also invites fans into an expansive and imaginative universe, with each song adding new layers to the album’s overarching narrative.

This Manila concert promises to be a showcase of this epic musical journey, as the band brings KYORYU and fan-favorite tracks from their previous albums to life on stage. For indie-rock fans in the Philippines, this is your chance to witness Last Dinosaurs live in action! Expect a night filled with high-energy performances, electric guitar riffs, and captivating visuals. With their blend of nostalgic indie-rock sounds and futuristic storytelling, Last Dinosaurs’ concert is sure to leave a lasting impression.
