Talulot Benefit Concert
You and your family will get to experience an enchanting night of wonderful music and wholesome entertainment on October 1, 2011.
Be inspired by the powerful voices of Basil Valdez and Dulce against the backdrop of a magnificent structure dedicated to one of the most beloved Saints of all time, St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
The Talulot Benefit Concert is one of the main highlights of this year’s Talulot Festival 2011. Since its birth in 2007, Talulot has been a wondrous spectacle of music, dance and local talents. Close to 2,500 people attend the Pontifical Mass and festivities every year.
Talulot is named after the Filipino word for petal, in honor of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus who is also known as God’s Little Flower. Devotees of the Saint believe that she sends a flower or flowers as a sign of granted prayer.
Ma. Victoria Ungco of Magnificat Ventures Corporation, the main organizer of the festival, says, “This is the first time a benefit concert is being staged at the Shrine. We believe that the Shrine of St. Thérèse is a breathtaking venue for celebrating life, spirituality and the gifts that God has given us. The Talulot Benefit Concert is also a great way to give back some of the blessings we received while bonding with our family and friends over an amazing musical experience.”
The Talulot Benefit Concert will start at 7:00 pm at the Shrine of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, Newport Boulevard, Pasay City (across NAIA 3). Tickets are sold at P1500, which includes post-show cocktails with the artists, P1000 and P800 for the benefit of the St. Thérèse Shrine of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (STSMOPFI).
Talulot Festival 2011 is kicked off by a photo exhibit entitled “Shower of Roses,” on display at the Atrium of the Newport Mall from September 24 – October 2, 2011. The exhibit also includes a petitions box where devotees can drop their personal intentions for offering on the Pontifical Mass at 8:00 AM on Talulot Day itself on October 2, 2011 (Sunday). A big Rose Blessing with devotees and various religious organizations will follow the Mass.
The annual street dancing competition that features contingents complete with intricate costumes and props will cap off the festivities on Talulot Day. The routines in the competition are meticulously choreographed and executed with impressive stunts like fire breathing.
Other side attractions such as a photography contest, free face painting, photo booth and mini zoo will also be available for children and families.
